**Saturday Hike: Near Point from Prospect Heights**
Join us for a challenging fall hike to Near Point, featuring excellent views over Anchorage and the Chugach Mountains.
**Date:** Saturday, October 24, 2026
**Time:** 10:00 a.m.
**Meet:** Prospect Heights Trailhead
**Distance:** Approximately 7.5–8 miles
**Elevation gain:** Approximately 2,100 feet
**Time:** 4½–5½ hours
**Difficulty:** Strenuous
**Parking:** $5 or Alaska State Parks pass

Expect frozen or muddy ground, possible ice and colder, windier conditions higher on the mountain. Bring waterproof hiking boots, warm layers, rain gear, water, lunch, and readily accessible bear spray. **Microspikes and trekking poles are strongly recommended.**
We may turn around before the summit if the trail becomes icy or the weather deteriorates.
