We are thrilled to invite you to the opening night of ‘Wiidabimishin: Sit Beside Me’, a Two-Spirit Group Exhibit curated by Anita Stallion & Lucas Corbin Cole. – Event Details – Date: Friday, September 11th Time: 6pm – 8pm Location: Matter Queer Space Manitoba Inc. (433 Graham Avenue, Winnipeg, MB) Cost: Pay what you can / By donation (all proceeds go to Matter) Additional open gallery dates TBD – Exhibit Description – Our stories are our legacy. When pieces of our stories are left out, we are leaving out important knowledge systems that might help someone on their journey. Stories shape who we are, and how a story is told, and to whom, leaves a lasting impact. As Two-Spirit people, we carry unique perspectives on storytelling that are deeply rooted in where we come from and what we have had to endure. ‘Wiidabimishin: Sit Beside Me’ was inspired by how our knowledge systems as Indigenous people have been protected and preserved through oral and visual storytelling.
