We size people up in seconds — before they've finished a sentence, sometimes before they've said a word. It's automatic, it's fast, and we can't turn it off. Sometimes those snap judgments are eerily accurate; sometimes they're completely wrong, and we only find out much later. And of course it runs both ways: while we're reading someone, they're reading us, and we rarely know what they're seeing. Tonight is about both sides of that first glance — the impressions we form, and the ones we leave.
