So You Want to be a Paleontologist?

Ever wonder how paleontologists find fossils or what they do once they are found? Participate in a mock dig and talk to the park paleontologist about all things paleontology. This program is for park visitors of all ages and is kid friendly. Date: Sunday, November 29th, 2026 Time: 9:00-11:00 am Location: Ice Age Fossils State Park - Check in with the front desk Need to Know • This program takes place outdoors. • Minors under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. • Program is weather dependent and may be cancelled without notice. What to Bring • Water • Comfortable shoes • Weather-appropriate clothing • Sun protection What to Expect • Park visitors can participate in a mock dig. While supplies last. • The park paleontologist will be on hand with some fossils and artifacts ready for questions about fossils and being or becoming a paleontologist.
