About this event

SERIES DANCE 10 #56 presents the premiere of STRAIGHT, NO CHASER by Olivia C. Davies at Ottawa Dance Directive. Supported by The National Arts Centre. Length: 90 minutes, no intermission, strong language. Birthday cake, baby bears and bananas mark the path of the Red Road for River, a reformed party girl about to give birth to her first daughter on the anniversary of her last hangover. Addressing the fallout of a couple hundred years of colonial dispossession through movement, prose, and song, Canadian choreographer Olivia C. Davies shares a story of memories that run like a river from mother to daughter and holds the truth of her life within its hard edges.
