Why we picked it

The Saskatoon Jazz Festival will end next Saturday, so time to get back into hiking. Saskatoon's Secret Forest, Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area, is a 326 acre woodland oasis preserved as an urban regional park [The Legacy of Saskatoon's Secret Forest Documentary](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2nVymkpdNA). We'll hike 8 to 10 kms on biking trails that were created and maintained by the Fatlanders Fat Tire Brigade. The trail is flat and winds through woods and meadows. We'll then go to nearby Chappell Marsh Conservation Area owned by Ducks Unlimited Canada and do an approx. 2.5 km loop on mowed trails through a typical prairie wetland to look at the marsh and water fowl. We'll meet in the parking lot for the off-leash Southwest Dog Park, off Valley Road, turn right on Cedar Villa Road. [Map – Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area.
