About this event

Join us Thursday, November 26th, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm. In partnership with the Gregg Centre for the Study of War and Society at the University of New Brunswick, the Beaverbrook Art Gallery invites you to a panel discussion exploring Bearing Witness to War, an exhibition featuring the military artwork of Alex Colville, Nancy Stevens, and Alan Harding Mackay. This talk is FREE TO ATTEND and will take place in the Harrison McCain Pavilion. Bringing together perspectives from art history, curatorial practice, and military history, the panel will examine how artists represent the experience, memory, and realities of war, and how art can deepen our understanding of conflict and its lasting impact on individuals and society. Featuring curator Ray Cronin and professors Dr. Cindy Brown and Dr. Lee Windsor, the discussion will consider the historical contexts of the works, the relationship between artistic representation and lived experience, and the role of art in bearing witness to war.
