Public Tree Planting

Mississippi Park Connections needs help planting over 1,000 trees and shrubs this fall at Crosby Farm Regional Park in collaboration with the City of Saint Paul. We will be planting climate-adapted trees and shrubs to fill the gaps, create habitat and grow a more resilient canopy in our floodplain forest. No experience required! We will give you a tree planting demonstration at the beginning of the event. Great for adults and kids over 12 years old. What to Expect: Our planting site for the day is roughly a half mile/10-minute walk from the parking lot on relatively flat gravel and dirt paths that will be muddy and uneven. Volunteers will be using heavier tools like shovels or buckets of water and will need to bend, kneel, and/or squat to plant. You will be sent an email 2 days in advance giving you more details. Funding for this project is provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, in partnership with Great River Greening.
