About this event

Doors open at 8:15 PM | Class begins promptly at 8:30 PM

Ever stared at a sake menu and just…pointed? This evening will fix that!

Join us at Moon Bar, Kansas City’s woman-owned, Japanese-inspired craft cocktail bar for a relaxed, hands-on hour that will expand your palate and knowledge of this traditional Japanese beverage.

You’ll taste your way through 5 distinct sakes from Manotsuru, the celebrated brewery founded in 1892 by the Obata family. Today, the brewery is run by fifth-generation leader Rumiko Obata.

The class will walk through how sake is made, the meaning behind terms like honjozo and junmai, and why rice polishing matters. By the end of class, you’ll have some new favorites and feel more confident with a sake list!

Leading the night is Megumi Calver, a Certified Sake Professional and educator originally from Tokyo, Japan. Moon Bar owner Saranya Hubbard will be providing a welcome cocktail to kick things off, light bites, and a sake affogato as a sweet, boozy finale.
