About this event

What can a work of art open up in your own writing? This fall, Nebraska Writers Collective is partnering with Samuel Bak Museum: The Learning Center for a series of three FREE workshops exploring "Past, Present, Futures" as a creative departure point for writing and performance. The exhibition brings together seven artists whose work reimagines traditions of European portraiture to center other histories, examine how historical narratives are formed, and celebrate the resurgence of culture after oppression. Each evening begins with a tour of the exhibition led by Chief Curator Alexandra Cardon. Then, a Nebraska Writers Collective Teaching Artist will guide participants through reflection and writing inspired by what they’ve encountered, with an opportunity to share their original work. WORKSHOP SCHEDULE ▪ September 16 | Allen Stevenson ▪ October 14 | Zedeka Poindexter ▪ November 18 | Noni Williams All workshops take place from 6:30–8 p.m. on Wednesdays at Samuel Bak Museum: The Learnin
