About this event
Please join us! LEX SOPHIA will be hosting an event on October 18th, creating a conversation surrounding capital punishment. This discussion will stem from the One-Sheet titled, "[Only Afraid of the Process: Justifications and Criticisms of Capital Punishment](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Bn050f_IgLP92evQv3dEntSvusLiYEecIbaDEkhGU-M/edit?tab=t.0)" by Cory Owens. During this event, we will ponder questions such as:
1. **Should a punishment in some way fit the crime? If so, how?**
2. **Do the consequences of punishments, such as reducing crimes, matter and, if so, in what way?**
3. **Should punishments for crimes be retributive, preventative, neither, or both, and why?**
4. **How confident should we be in the guilt of a person convicted of a crime?**
Please come share your thoughts and perspectives. Any and all are welcome!
