About this event
A $5 materials fee will be collected on-site for the workshop. Learn about the meanings of traditional Japanese auspicious motifs used in kimono accessories. After a short introduction, you will create your own embossed aluminum ornament by tracking one of the three classic designs: a crane, a turtle, or pine, bamboo and plum. This program is part of TAIWANfest About the Artist I started Konaya after working on making hair ornaments for weddings. I often draw inspiration from familiar plants, flowers, and creatures I encounter in my daily life and while traveling. I hope that the freedom of brass as a material and the excitement I feel when creating will be conveyed to people in other countries as well.
