Between 1875-1914, thousands of prisoners crossed through the Fort Calgary prisons, each with their own story and accused crime. Gin, Jail & Justice follows a handful of these stories, examining some of the most interesting and prevalent crimes and criminals of Calgary during the 39-year occupation of Fort Calgary.
At Gin, Jail & Justice, go behind bars and take a glimpse into the day-to-day lives of those held at Fort Calgary’s prisons while also examining the pressures that strained these prisons and their operations. This 18+ event begins in the replica 1888 Fort Calgary Barracks, where you’ll enjoy a specialty cocktail before embarking on a twilight walking tour of the parkland to spots significant to historical crime in Calgary.
