@ Expand your floral design knowledge through this course, teaching the ancient Japanese art form of flower arranging. The course will provide a history of Japanese flower arranging and provide a context for the creative designs you will learn. We will explore the Japanese culture that surrounds Eastern flower arranging— poetry, religion, festivals and celebrations. The Sogetsu School of Ikebana, which we will focus on, is one of the newer schools of Ikebana, and it reflects modern lifestyles and focuses on encounters between two ever-changing entities: humans and nature. Prerequisites: Sogetsu Ikebana has no prerequisites. Many of our courses have a part one and a part two, which teache more advanced work. If you have already taken Ikebana and wish to extend your knowledge, you may sign up for this course again and an advanced program will be taught within it.
