About this event

This autumn we are pleased to present the following individual talks on timely subjects. Whatever an AI system produces, nothing in it understands, and so nothing in it wills; lacking intellect and will, it cannot perform a moral act at all. It is not amoral by design but non-moral by nature. Its effects are attributed to the principal agents who build and deploy it. Moral weight is never diffused into the system. No one gets to say the algorithm decided. That is precisely why AI falls under the ordinary demands of Catholic social teaching on human dignity, work, truth, and the common good. Dr. Gray is a professor at the University of St. Thomas Law School.
