Fall Series: “Is there such a thing as a ‘just war’?”

This autumn we are pleased to present the following individual talks on timely subjects. Presented by Dr. Robert Kennedy. In the Catholic view, war is always a tragedy but sometimes engaging in war is necessary to defend a nation, to preserve the common good, and to defeat injustice. The Catholic “Just War” tradition is a robust analysis of the morality of going to war and of military conduct in the context of war. This presentation will present some of the basic principles of the tradition and reflect on some of the challenges facing the modern world. Dr. Kennedy is a professor of Catholic Studies at the University of St. Thomas.
