October is Health Literacy Month, and Empower
MOM is back for another powerful afternoon of education, celebration, connection, and community.
Empower
MOM was created by Dr. Phindile Erika Chowa, an Emergency Medicine physician and founder of EM
Care2U, after seeing how many women move through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum feeling overwhelmed, underprepared, and unsupported.
Dr. Chowa envisioned a different kind of gathering — one where expecting mothers could be showered not only with gifts, but with knowledge, resources, expert guidance, and a stronger village.
Empower
MOM brings mothers, families, birth workers, health professionals, sponsors, and community partners into one room to help bridge the gaps in maternal care. This event was designed to make sure mothers are not
