Welcome to the Edmonton Death Café Meetup Group!*** **\#\#\#\# PURPOSE** Death Cafe is: A place where people, often strangers, gather to sip, eat and discuss death talk. • Our objective is *'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives*'. • A group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. The format is meant to be flexible, lightweight, and straightforward. *Death Café is not:* • Not a bereavement support or grief counselling setting. • Not an opportunity to give people information about death and dying – regardless of how good or important it is. This is a time to discuss death without expectations. • Not a place for guest speakers or distribution of information materials. • Death café does not work for people who, for whatever reason, aren’t able to discuss death comfortably and openly. • Death Café does not work as a method of community engagement, research, or consultation
