About this event

David Braid Melodic Archetypes in New Chamber Music Music at Memorial Mainstage Concert Series Thursday, October 29, 7:30pm D.F. Cook Recital Hall Tickets: $30 (General) / $24 (Students & Seniors) / $10 (Youth 13-30) / $5 (12 & under). Fees included. In this evocative collection, multi-Juno award winning pianist and composer David Braid weaves "musical DNA" of Central Asian melodies—absorbed during his immersive collaborations from 2018 to 2026—into the sophisticated framework of contemporary chamber music. Joining him will be cellist Vernon Regehr, violinist Bailey Wantuch, violist Kate Read, and clarinetist Christine Carter. The concert will open with Braid’s “L’heure bleue” (2026), written and performed by MUN faculty pianist Madeline Hildebrand and her duo partner, Caitlin Broms-Jacobs (oboe). For tickets and a complete schedule of events in our 2026-27 Music at Memorial Concert Series, visit mun.ca/music/events/concert-series.
