This program brings together three works where personal confession, folk memory, and historical upheaval quietly shape the music from behind the scenes. Beethoven’s String Quartet in F major, Op. 18, No. 1 finds a young composer testing the boundaries of a genre he would soon transform — confidence and experimentation woven into a classical frame. Smetana’s String Quartet No. 2 in D minor, written as his hearing failed him, reads like a private diary of fear and resilience.
