Banned Book Month: Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult

📚 BANNED BOOKS MONTH: Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult

In nineteen minutes, a small town is forever changed by a devastating act of violence at a local high school. Picoult explores what happened before, during, and after that day through the lives of students, parents, teachers, and members of the community.

This is a challenging book that tackles bullying, isolation, friendship, family relationships, violence, grief, and the question of how well we really know the people around us.

Nineteen Minutes has also faced bans and restrictions in schools, making it an especially interesting choice for our group.

As always, part of our discussion will be about why the book has been banned or restricted, whether its difficult subject matter affects its value, and what happens when access to controversial books is limited.

Whether you've read banned books for years or this is your first one, you're welcome to join us. Come ready for good conversation, different perspectives, and respectful
