BACKDOOR CINEMA IS BACK! 🎬🩸
After a very long hiatus, we're thrilled to announce the triumphant return of Backdoor Cinema. Halloween season feels like the perfect time to resurrect this project, and we’re kicking things off with the 2009 revenge horror-comedy JENNIFER’S BODY, starring Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried.
Written by Diablo Cody and directed by Karyn Kusama, Jennifer’s Body deserved better on its release. The studio sold it to young men by leaning heavily into Megan Fox’s sex appeal, burying the female perspective at the heart of the story. A film about female friendship, exploitation, objectification and female rage became a sales pitch about how hot its star was. The message got lost in translation.
Dismissed and misunderstood in 2009, it has since found its audience and earned its place as a feminist cult classic. Funny, vicious and unapologetically angry, this is a film worth revisiting together.<
